MEWP Elevated work Platform Boom / Scissor
Operating an Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) is a highly-skilled job that can be very dangerous if not performed properly. The following are a few hazards that are associated with operating these machines.
- Falls from heights
- Tipover / Collapse
- Objects falling from lifts
- Ejections from lift platforms
- Electrocutions
The Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) supports a wide variety of tasks. It is used for any trade requiring over height work to be done. Our Elevated Work Platform (EWP) or Arial Work Platform (AWP) Training Course is intended for participants who are new to the trade or an experienced operator looking for re-certification to sharpen their skills.
MEWP Elevated Work Platform Operator Training (On-site)
This Elevated Work Platform (EWP) course is approximately 4 hours of theory plus practical. The course includes an instructor-led PowerPoint presentation, videos, class exercises, multiple-choice test, inspection, function test and operation of an EWP. The student will receive a training credential card for the type of Elevating Work Platform they complete the Practical on (Boom or Scissor or both)

MEWP Elevated Work Platform Operator Training (Online)
A Canada-Compliant Training Class Online for Aerial Lifts (Boom Lifts & Scissor Lifts). I-CAB Recognized. This course satisfies Canada’s requirements for the classroom portion of operator safety training. Quiz questions along the way prepare you for the final written exam. Upon completion, you will gain access your certificate and a checklist which can be used by your employer to administer the required practical observation.

- Looks at different types of lifts and their anatomy
- Shows why it’s important to conduct a thorough pre-shift inspection each day before putting a lift into service
- Looks at aerial lift stability and the importance of knowing the machine’s capacity
- Emphasizes the importance of planning each lift and setting up the machine properly to avoid hazards and obstacles around the work site
- Identifies the six most common hazards associated with aerial lift operation and explains how to recognize, avoid or minimize them
- Upon successful completion of this online course, a certificate of completion will be available for download and printing.
MEWP Elevated Work Platform Operator Training (Blended)
Similar to our online course, this blended program combines the convenience of online theory with practical, hands-on training on both boom lifts and scissor lifts. The course covers safe operating procedures, pre-use inspections, workplace hazards, fall protection, equipment controls, and emergency procedures in alignment with applicable CSA B354 standards and workplace safety requirements. Designed for both new and experienced operators, this course supports initial training and refresher requirements. Upon successful completion of the online theory and practical evaluation, participants receive documentation confirming their completed training.
